Heather June Berg
Heather began her studies in Vancouver at the age of six. After winning a major piano competition she was invited by conductor Irwin Hoffman to be soloist with the Vancouver symphony. This led to lessons and master classes with Boris Berlin and Glenn Gould. Heather was a regular performer for Theatre Under The Stars and the Kitsilano Showboat in Vancouver and became well known as both soloist and accompanist. Over the next few years she became accompanist at the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, Augustana University, Grande Prairie Regional College and the University of British Columbia. She has worked with and accompanied well known recording artists Victor Borge, Hagood Hardy, Ben Heppner, Roger Cole, and Larry Krantz. She was an accompanist for the provincial music festival in Alberta for 20 years.
While maintaining a private studio, Heather spent 23 years in the Alberta School system as a children's librarian.
In the summer of 1997, Heather performed with composer and pianist Dale Reubarts his piano duets published by Frederick Harris. Currently, along with her husband Norris Berg, violinist, Heather is co-music director and organist at St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral in Kamloops, B.C. Together they operate Norheath Music Studio as private violin and piano instructors and the Norheath Duo as performers throughout the Kamloops and Okanagan Districts. Her husband is also founder and conductor of the Thompson Valley Community Orchestra and the Thompson Valley Junior Strings.
